Orange Words is a small hobby project, where I tinker with the combination of hacker news data, search, and machine learning.

The data includes a backfill of all past items from the Hacker News API, as well as an ongoing sync of the latest items (every 30 minutes or so). This includes updating items until their edit window has closed. On occasion, other background jobs run and enrich the data, to make it more searchable or to support interesting features I want to develop.

The bulk of the system runs on a robust little Intel NUC and the core service is a search, data, and vector engine named Vespa.
